Fostering the Dream

On April 21^st, members of the Carrollton First Methodist Church are working at the Almon home to prepare the home for its renovation and expansion. Volunteers are digging around the basement of the home, diverting water from the natural spring that is adjacent to the home and causing basement flooding. They are installing a French Drain and Sump Pump.

On April 28^th, CFUMC volunteers are again working at the home, finishing the French Drain and cleaning the basement.

Mike Bell Chevrolet, www.mikebellchevrolet.com, will host a major Garage Sale on April 21st to benefit the Almon Family. Throughout the the month of April for every vehicle sold Mike Bell will donate money to the Almon Family new vehicle project.

• Carrollton Kroger, www.kroger.com: Grilling on site and providing hotdogs, chips & drinks for Garage Sale workers and shoppers, and also for the CFUMC workers at the Almon home

• McIntosh Bank, www.mcintoshcommercialbank.com: Promoted project and donated items for Garage Sale

• CrossPoint, www.thecrossthepoint.com: Provided publicity and manpower for Garage Sale
• Midway Macedonia Baptist Church, www.mmbc.ch: Collected items, donated tables for Garage Sale, and collecting the money to go toward the new Almon family vehicle
• Carrollton First United Methodist Church, www.cfumc.com: Workers at the Garage Sale and donated items for Garage Sale

When the Almon family was selected as a finalist on ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition, a group Carrollton’s citizens and business people wanted to organize a charity whose aim was to purchase a car for the family. However, ABC decided on another family for its prize and so this charity’s purpose is raise money to build a new home for a family that has given so much to those in need.
