Changes are Happening – From the Dog’s Point of View – In Memory of Rosie

Hello, I’m Rosie. I am the Beagle furbaby of the Fosters. My adopted canine brother is JD, an American Eskimo.

JD and I knew our humans had been acting strangely for about a year. They would leave the house with stuff and never bring the stuff back. It wasn’t just some old clothes or things they didn’t use any more, although things like that were definitely leaving the house too. They were taking truck loads of stuff away. This became an every Saturday routine for months. It wasn’t just Saturdays either. They were taking car and truck loads away from the house until it was empty.

That’s when it happened. After the house was basically empty, they went away for a long weekend. When they came back they had this big house on wheels. At first JD and I thought it was just a long UPS truck. We used to see those regularly. JD was ready to chase off the delivery person. But no, our humans were in it. They seemed so happy and excited. They wanted us to come see it. It didn’t smell all that great to me. But I stayed there with them because, well, they are my humans.

In the driveway

JD did a lot of walking back and forth from the house to this new house on wheels. I think he was afraid they were going to take off without him again. He followed our Human Mom through the old house and watched her and our Dad take wagon after wagon from the house to the new home. They were both exhausted. Our Human Dad was working very hard filling up this new house and making sure he had everything ready. He worked really hard.

I’m still trying to figure our where my spot is.

We spent our nights in this new home on wheels while it was parked in the driveway of our old house. It was weird but as long as we were with our humans we were ok. Then one day, they took a walk through the house, looking at all the rooms. They seemed sad, happy and excited all at the same time. We went into the house on wheels. Our Human Dad cranked up the big motor and it started moving!!!

I bolted to the back and jumped on the bed. I learned it was rumbly back there because that is where the motor is but it seemed like the safest place to be. At least it had the comfy mattress to lay on and the pillows that smelled like my Humans. I stayed there until it stopped. They hooked leashes on us and took us for a walk at this stinky place that smelled like fuel, and junk food. Our Human Dad brought our Human Mom some junk food but they didn’t share with us. They said something about not wanting me to get motion sickness.

The house on wheels started moving again and I decided to ride with my Human Mom to see where we were going. We went up a big hill they called Black Mountain. Human Dad seemed happy with the way the moving house went up the big hill with no problem.

Finally we got to what the Humans called a campground. It was time for me to nap!

Tiny Living in a Motorhome

Hello! We are the Fosters. In 2019 we sold the house we raised our children in and bought a Tiffin Allegro RED 37PA We began our RV lifestyle by commuting to our jobs from a wonderful campground in Mount Airy. We liked the town and there are plenty of places to explore in the area. The campground has a lot of space to walk the dogs.

We adapted pretty easily to living in a small space. Having the motorhome has allowed us to take off on weekend trips that would have been a hassle to do before. Now we don’t have to worry about packing or finding dog sitters. We just make our reservations in the RV park we want to go to and take off.

We love our view of the mountains from Mount Airy especially at sunset.
